With the support of our Birney families, local businesses, and members of our community (plus a $100 donation from Vail High School's ASB), Birney successfully raised $1523 for The Children's Hospital of Orange County, in memory of Sarah Elizabeth Gomez (12/21/07-4/17/13). The money will be used to purchase toys and other items for children receiving cancer treatment at the hospital. Lorena Galaviz, the Birney Student Council member who initiated this fundraiser, will present a check to CHOC on our behalf, along with Sarah's mother.
Birney students also raised $733 for The American Cancer Society's Relay 4 Life by donating change in their classrooms. Ms. Salas, one of our own Birney teachers, will be presenting a check to the Relay 4 Life committee on our behalf.
