Welcome To Fifth Grade

Welcome to the fifth grade page. Here you will find specific information about curriculum, activities and expectations for fifth grade students.

Fifth grade students are the role models for our school. They are expected to model the six pillars of character - trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship - at all times.

This year our students have school agendas where they can write their daily homework assignments, project due dates, and upcoming events. The agenda can also be used for parents to communicate with teachers.

Students receive a rigorous, challenging curriculum in all subjects: language arts, math, social studies and science. Students will take the CAASPP in language arts, math and science. In addition students will be given a physical fitness test in April.

Our students are offered many activities and field trips to reinforce and enrich the curriculum. All activities and field trips are based on the curriculum and occur throughout the year.

  • October, students may participate in the Marine Science Floating Laboratory.
  • In November/December The Mobile Vector District come to visit our students.
  • March fifth graders may go to The House of Blues as part of our study of American History.
  • May, students who have passed the physical requirements will participate in the eight mile nature hike in the Chantry Flats trail in the Angeles National Forest.
  • The week of May 21st to the 25th is the Los Angeles County Outdoor Science Camp (LACOSS) field trip at Camp Hess Kramer in Malibu.

Fifth grade students may participate in several special events and activities at the end of the year, including launching rockets, a student/faculty softball game fifth grade field day, and promotion.
