Hello Room 24 Parents and Students,

     This week we will be continuing work on several long-term projects: our informative essay (Write Steps), our division unit, our area/perimeter amusement parks, and our native tribe slide shows. In between those assignments, we will learn about the suffix-ly, and work on Accelerated Reader, Front Row, and Reflex Math. 

     Birney's Student Council is sponsoring a canned food drive from now through November 20th. The items collected will be donated to the Pico Rivera Christmas Basket Committee and will benefit families in need in our community. At this time of year, when we all stop and reflect on so much that we have to be grateful for, it is especially important to consider how the smallest kindnesses can make an enormous difference in the lives of those who are struggling. If you are able to send in a few canned or packaged goods, please do so.

Hello Room 24 Students and Parents,

     This week is a short week, due to the Veterans' Day holiday on Friday, but we will be accomplishing a great deal. We will be completing our California native tribe research and beginning work on our slide show presentations to show what we have learned. In math we will begin a unit on division, as well as beginning work on our area/perimeter amusement park projects. We will be beginning a new unit in our Write Steps program as well, working on expository writing. 

     Our 4th grade whale watch has officially been scheduled for Friday, March 2nd. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our math-a-thon and made this trip possible.
