Hello Room 24 Parents and Students,

     The week of our whale watch has finally arrived! Weather permitting, we will head out on our trip this Friday. Please be sure to get plenty of rest, bring warmth, bring your lunch, and eat a healthy breakfast. 

     The rest of the week we will taking part in benchmark testing, continuing reading Bridge to Terabithia, and learning more about fractions and mixed numbers.

     This week is also Read Across America. We will have a week of spirit days followed by a Green Eggs and Ham breakfast Friday morning. We are hoping that students will have a chance to partake in the breakfast before our buses arrive for the field trip.

Hello Room 24 Parents and Students,

     Thank you to everyone who joined us for Open House. Our students have been working hard this year, so it was nice for them to be able to show off all of the hard work they've been doing.

     This week we will begin reading Bridge to Terabithia. We will also continue our unit on fractions during math. We will spend some time reviewing our interim assessments as well.

     This week students will begin online homework in math and language arts. We still have no spelling or vocabulary homework for this week.

Dear Room 24 Parents and Students,

     This Thursday is Open House! Students will have the opportunity to show off some of the work that they have been doing this year and give their parents a tour of our classroom. I hope that you will all be able to make it. Students will not have homework that night, as their homework is to show you around our room. Open House will start at 5:30 and end at 7:00. 

     This week we will be continuing our work with fractions, finishing our mission PBLs, and working through the engineering process. This Friday will be a minimum day, with students and staff released at 1:05.

Hello Room 24 Parents and Students,

     This week we will be completing our whale and PBL projects and taking our first chapter test on fractions. We will then begin a new chapter on decomposing, adding, and subtracting fractions.

     This is also the week that the Lakers Reading Challenge is due. Please remember to fill out your bookmark with the names of all of the books you've read. Names of students who have completed the challenge will be submitted to the Lakers on Friday, so please be sure that I receive your bookmark by then.

     Just to make sure you're prepared...The week of 2/12 through 2/16 will be a short but busy week. Monday, 2/12, is a holiday. There will be no school on that day. Wednesday, 2/14, is Valentines Day. (Yes, students can pass out valentines!) Thursday, 2/15, is Open House. Our students have been working hard all year, and this is the evening that they get to invite you to our room to show you around and share some of what they've been learning with you. I hope that you can attend. Friday, 2/16, will be a minimum day with students and school staff leaving at 1:05.
